- Power Resource Manager
Description
The Power Resource Manager will be responsible for overseeing the management of short, mid, and long-term power supply needs through the execution of physical or financial transactions, negotiating and facilitating contracts for electricity and transmission, budget and rate development, performing complex power analysis, and the development of relationships with potential third-party power suppliers or industrial customers for new projects.
Typical Duties Include:
Ø Ensure compliance with the District’s Energy Risk Management (ERM) Policies, recommend updates and modifications to policy where appropriate.
Ø Supervise the modeling, analysis, and growth forecasting of the District’s load patterns and resource utilization; identify factors affecting District loads and related impacts on load growth.
Ø Interpret and evaluate economic analyses, planning data, and study results in the formulation and implementation of recommendations to enhance and optimize the District’s market positions in a fiscally responsible manner
Ø Obtain and evaluate preliminary and official market survey data and potential opportunities for power supply acquisition and power project participation.
Ø Attend UAMPS Board and committee meetings and coordinate with UAMPS staff as LMUD’s representative to procure energy resources.
Ø Ensure compliance and reporting related to Power Resource procurement, including but not limited to California’s Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS), managing the District’s Western Renewable Energy Generation Information System (WREGIS) account, Resource Adequacy (RA) programs, and future CAISO and EDAM requirements.
Ø Work with other publicly owned utilities to optimize power supply resources and reduce shared costs where possible
Ø Track the District’s California Air Resources Board (CARB) allowances and manage those allowances for the Cap-And-Invest Program
Requirements
Ø Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in business, engineering, accounting, or related desirable, but not required.
Ø A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in power resource management.
Ø Experience in the public sector, utilities, or special districts is highly desirable.
