JOB OVERVIEW
The Maintenance Technician Specialist is responsible for performing routine maintenance and operational support tasks to ensure the safe and efficient functioning of BWC Terminal's (The Company's) equipment and facilities. In addition to standard maintenance duties, this role involves specialized welding responsibilities that require certification and expertise in metal fabrication and repair. The position supports preventive maintenance, equipment inspections, and operational readiness, with a focus on welding-related tasks that ensure the integrity and safety of mechanical systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment and facilities to ensure optimal performance.
- Identify and accurately comprehend the functions of the facility's pumps and valves.
- Assist in connecting flanges and installing gaskets to ensure secure, leak-free pipeline connections.
- Work collaboratively to align pipelines correctly, ensuring optimal function and compliance with safety standards.
- Operate forklifts safely and participate in training sessions to maintain certification and improve skills.
- Apply lubricating grease in truck racks and perform general equipment lubrication to maintain operational efficiency.
- Ensure proper installation and maintenance of grounding cables to prevent electrical hazards.
- Assist in the repair and maintenance of facility equipment, including temperature probes and other essential equipment.
- Perform certified welding tasks, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding, on facility infrastructure, pipelines, and equipment.
- Fabricate, modify, and repair metal components and structures to meet operational and safety standards.
- Interpret welding blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to execute precise welds and structural modifications.
- Conduct weld inspections and quality assurance checks to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to design and implement custom metal solutions for facility needs.
- Maintain welding equipment and supplies, ensuring readiness and compliance with safety protocols.
- Document welding activities and maintain records of certifications, inspections, and repairs.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace to promote safety and efficiency.
- Support anodic protection efforts to prevent corrosion on metal surfaces and equipment.
- Monitor and ensure the security and proper operation of facility generators.
- Conduct regular checks on air compressors to verify they are in good working condition.
- Assist in completing terminal fuel checklists and ordering supplies as needed to maintain operational readiness.
- Read and interpret documents/manuals related to the facility's structures and equipment.
- Inspect equipment on a regular schedule to ensure equipment is functioning correctly and safely per company and federal/state safety requirements.
- Research and make recommendations for equipment/parts purchases.
- Maintain necessary records and paperwork.
- Take the initiative to identify problems, use judgment to find appropriate solutions, and follow through on resolving issues promptly.
- Support team efforts, actively work to generate respect and enthusiasm, cooperate with others, and actively learn from other team members.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform the duties of this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. - Minimum 2 years' experience in Terminal maintenance with pump alignments, short tank closures
- Minimum 5 years of welding experience
- Highly skilled and knowledgeable in using hand/power tools, mechanics, electrical, and welding techniques to service and repair equipment
- Certified Welder with current credentials from an accredited institution (e.g., AWS or equivalent).
- Demonstrated proficiency in various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, stick).
- Experience in metal fabrication, structural welding, and repair in an industrial or terminal environment.
- Ability to pass weld tests and maintain certification as required by company standards.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot problems and repairs
- Customer service focus
- Ability to have or obtain a TWIC card
- Ability to wear safety equipment, including respirator, safety shoes, goggles, gloves, and similar equipment
- Ability to become certified and operate a motor vehicle, forklift, and similar equipment
- Mechanically inclined and have the ability and skills in disassembling, repairing, and assembling equipment
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, blueprints, drawings
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with customers and co-workers; ability to write reports/documentation
- Ability to change duties throughout the day and to work with a variety of individuals
- Ability to interact with others in a professional and appropriate demeanor, work effectively with a diverse group of individuals, and maintain effective working relationships with staff and customers
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

Working Conditions and Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the individual is often exposed to a variety of weather conditions, including rain and heat/cold, as well as noise, fumes, grease, oil, noxious odors, cleaning chemicals, paints, glues, and solvents.
Physical Requirements/Activities: While performing the duties of this position, the individual is regularly required to; stand, walk, sit, climb and balance on ladders; walk on elevated walkways, docks, roofs and tanks; access confined areas; carry and reach with hands and arms; use hands to fingers; handle, feel, and use tools and office equipment and communicate (talk and hear). This position involves standing/bending/stooping for approximately 90% of the workday. Frequently, the employee is required to twist to perform tasks that involve kneeling, bending, crawling, crouching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or twisting. Occasionally, the employee is required to lift or exert force of more than 50 pounds. Frequently, the employee is required to lift or exert force of up to 50 pounds. The needed and specific vision abilities include close vision of 20 inches or less and a visual acuity of greater than 3 feet.
